This series was billed as a good one, but it was all Yellow Jackets, with GT completing the sweep on Saturday, 15-2 in 7. This was the series of Vahn Lackey, who went 10/15 with 6 XBHs and 4 free passes on the entire week. As for Saturday, he reached base in every PA, including hitting a homer and getting hit by a pitch twice. His blast was number 15 on the year, and was destroyed, hit at 110 mph and travelling 439’. If this dream season continues on to June postseason play, the questions will start if Lackey should get more consideration to go #1 or 2 overall in the draft. One of the highest draft risers this season, Carson Kerce, capped off his year with another great day, smashing a triple and a homer while walking twice. He’s now slashing .376/.455/.634, and looks like a firm 2nd rounder. Boston College did have some offense on Saturday, with Julio Solier doubling and walking twice. This brings his season OPS to just over the country average at .886. As a strong power hitter who struggles to lift the ball, the SO. will get the chance to prove that he should be a 1st rounder next year. Georgia Tech will be the ACC Tournament #1 seed and hold a double bye. Boston College will be the #4 seed and also hold a double bye.
