"Pick to Click" Prospects - NL West

Prospects Live March 21, 2026
Source

Part of being successful in dynasty leagues is being able to identify prospects who will gain value, and quickly. Most dynasty managers can look at a top prospect list and pick out a future star, but it takes some analysis, intuition, and luck in order to consistently pinpoint future major league contributors.

This week, our Dynasty Team will be highlighting one prospect from each team that they feel will jump in our rankings over the course of 2026. Not all of these players will be top 25 prospects, in fact some may not even crack our top 100. But if maximizing value is the name of the game in dynasty baseball, even a player rising the ranks should generate some buzz and a possible trade chip for your team.

Lucas (@theprospectprof) concludes our series with the National League West and five prospects he's targeting as picks to click in 2026!

One need look no further than the meteoric ascension of Konnor Griffin, or the superstardom of Bobby Witt Jr., to understand why prep infielders often command a premium both in the MLB draft and in dynasty FYPD’s. While Griffin, Bryce Rainer, and Tyson Lewis have received most of the public attention from the 2024 draft class, their fellow high-schooler JD Dix has quietly become one of the most underrated prospects in the fantasy landscape.

Arizona gave Dix just over $2.1 million with the 35th overall pick in 2024, signing him away from a Wake Forest commitment. The switch-hitter then hit the ground running in 2025 as a 19-year-old, quite literally. In 89 games split between Rookie ball and Single-A, Dix swiped 28 bases and slashed .297/.404/.406 with a 112 PLive+, albeit with just two home runs. While the lack of power may scare some people off him for fantasy purposes, he has the frame at 6’2, 180 lbs. to add strength and produce more power in game, and his 32.8% fly ball rate last year compares favorably to that of big leaguers such as Zach Neto (31.6%) and Corbin Carroll (32.0%).

For all their upside, prep hitters often come with risk and long developmental trajectories, but Dix projects to be one of the safer investments in this regard. He displayed strong plate discipline at both levels last season, with his walk rate jumping from an already-solid 11.2% at the Complex up to an elite 16.5% once he reached Single-A. Additionally, his speed and athleticism should help him provide consistent defensive value even if he moves off of shortstop to second, or into the outfield, raising his fantasy floor through secure playing time. He may not have the most helium at the moment, but Dix is poised for another strong season in 2026, and looks like a prime candidate to wind up as a top-100 prospect by season’s end.
