McLain takes commanding early lead in HD 29 Dem primary

State Rep. Susan McLain, the longtime House District 29 incumbent, faced a primary challenge from Hillsboro School Board member Mark Watson in Tuesday's Democratic primary, with McLain taking a commanding early lead in initial results released at 8 p.m.
Initial results showed McLain at 75.31% (2,281 votes) and Watson at 24.36% (738 votes).
No Republican filed for the District 29 seat in 2026, leaving the Republican primary ballot empty. Initial results showed 276 write-in votes on the Republican side.
