Armitage, Bangs lead SD 16 primaries

Six candidates competed for the Senate District 16 nomination in Tuesday's primary, three Democrats and three Republicans, with Rachel Armitage and Courtney Bangs taking early leads in their respective party contests in initial results released at 8 p.m. On the Democratic side, initial results showed Armitage at 84.39% (6,421 votes), Jordan Gutierrez at 8.88% (676 votes), and Aaron Dickie at 5.38% (409 votes). On the Republican side, initial results showed Bangs at 62.27% (4,988 votes), Tripp Dietrich at 29.91% (2,396 votes), and Frank A. Mansfield at 7.29% (584 votes).
