The invention relates to a display apparatus (3) for a motor vehicle (1), comprising a screen device (5) and a projector device (4), by which light is emitted to the screen device (4) for representing a display on the screen device (4), wherein the projector device (5) and the screen device (4) are located in an interior of the motor vehicle (1), wherein the screen device (5) comprises an optical element (11), whose light transmission is capable of being controlled in dependence on a control signal, and the display apparatus (3) comprises a control device (7) for providing the control signal.
