The present invention relates to a device for tensioning a traction element, such as for example a tie-down strap or similar, comprising a base (40) provided with an attachment mechanism for a first end of said traction element, and a winding means for the other end of said traction element, said attachment mechanism being fixed on said base (40) in a manner free to translate with respect to said base (40), between a tensioned position and a de-tensioned position, and said base (40) comprising a detector (21) capable of detecting the presence or absence of a predetermined tension level between said base (40) and said attachment mechanism.
