Illuminated decorative strip

An illuminated trim strip for a motor vehicle, in particular a trim strip as a cover strip (2) of a sealing strip (1) for the window opening of a vehicle door, is intended to achieve a noble-looking lighting effect while at the same time achieving simple structural design, low manufacturing costs and space-saving installation. Furthermore, the trim strip (2) should differ as little as possible in external appearance from non-illuminated trim strips. For this purpose, it is provided that a light gap (10) is formed between a profile strip (2) of the trim strip and the adjacent vehicle exterior skin (12), through which the light emitted by a light source provided on the rear side of the trim strip (2) can exit to the outside.
