Piston engine, method and use

The method involves supplying fresh air from a fresh air plant (4) to cylinders (3) of a piston engine (1) to drive off exhaust gas of the cylinder by an exhaust system (5). A loading of the respective cylinder with fresh air is supported during a gas exchange by a fresh air-side over pressure wave. A discharge of exhaust gas from the respective cylinder is produced by an exhaust gas-side low pressure wave. The fresh air-side over pressure wave and the exhaust gas-side low pressure wave are produced by a variation in an electro acoustic transducer (9). An independent claim is also included for a piston engine comprising a fresh air plant for supplying fresh air to cylinders of a piston engine.
