Driver-side occupant restraint device

The driver's-side occupant restraint device has an inflatable gasbag (10) which comes out of the steering wheel when inflated. The gasbag is decoupled from the steering wheel in the direction of the steering wheel rotation and is asymmetric in shape relative to the steering wheel axis (A). The inflated gasbag has a bulge to cover at least part of the driver's-side A-pillar.
