Head-protecting device for motor vehicle occupants

The head protection device has an inflatable air bag that is filled by a gas generator when required and that extends laterally between the shoulder and head of the vehicle occupant when inflated. The multi-chamber air bag has seams (13,14) holding individual wall regions together, connected chambers (10,11,12) providing an approximate L-shape when inflated.
