Device (1) for aiding a driver during parking of a vehicle comprises determining a deviation of the actual path of the vehicle from the theoretical path using a sensor (2), and calculating continuous driving and steering instructions using a regulating unit (16) depending on the deviation. An independent claim is also included for a process for aiding a driver during parking of a vehicle using he above device. Preferred Features: Driving and steering instructions can be optically and/or acoustically outputted. An ideal driving path is approximated from three segments in the cross-parking gap.
