Safety device

The motor vehicle occupant safety device has an air bag that can be filled by a gas generator with at least one essentially hose-shaped chamber and a passive tensioning device that is attached only to the air bag and not to the motor vehicle that imposes a curved path on the air bag when it is unfolded and subjected to a gas. The chamber runs in the direction of unfolding of the air bag. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an air bag, especially for an inventive device.
