The device has a housing for an electric motor servo drive with a locking bolt forming a tab space with an upper opening for a tab protruding from the tank flap. The bolt can be deployed by a drive spring into the tab space to lock the tab and retracted by electric motor. A sprung ejector is arranged in the tab space under the path of the locking bolt. A press switch connected to the servo drive is arranged on the ejector. The device has a housing for an electric motor final control drive with a locking bolt (5) forming a tab space with an upper opening (10) for accommodating a tab (8) protruding from the tank flap (2), whereby the locking bolt can be deployed by a drive spring into the tab space to lock the tab and retracted by electric motor. A sprung ejector is arranged in the tab space under the path of the locking bolt. A press switch (33) connected to the final control drive is arranged on the ejector. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of controlling an inventive locking device for a tank flap.
