The pedal has a pedal arm acted on by the force applied by the foot of the driver at one end, its opposite end pivoted about a pivot axis at right angles to the pedal arm, supported in a housing by a plastics bearing (32) at either end of the pivot axis. Each bearing is fixed in the housing by a lug (34) which is received in a pocket provided by the housing.
