Side air bag module

The invention relates to a side airbag module with a gas generator (18) and an airbag (24) for covering at least one side window, wherein the airbag (24) has at least one retention chamber (36). The gas generator (18) has at least two gas conduits (20) and the airbag (24) has at least two connections (26, 28) which are connected to the gas conduits, wherein the airbag (24) in the folded state has an elongated shape. The side airbag module is characterized in that the airbag (24) in the folded state is surrounded by a protective cover (32) and the connections (26, 28) between longitudinal ends of the protective cover (32) protrude from the protective cover (32).
