The dividing and covering device for motor vehicles has a partially flexible material web(12) with a rigid end edge(E) formed as a separate component which is joined by dimensionally stable form-locking and/or clamping means(B) to the material web in the region of outwards pointing protrusions(13). The end edge has a piping slot to accommodate the free edge(R) of the material web which may be formed as a piping cord. The piping slot may be a one-piece continuous formed part or as two parts joined together with the join along its longitudinal extent.
