System to regenerate an exhaust particle filter in a diesel engine
DRIVE
September 5, 2001
This system is characterized in that the engine (1) is associated with various components, and with means (17) for controlling the operation of these various components, further adapted to trigger a regeneration phase of the particulate filter by combustion of particles trapped therein by initiating a phase of multiple fuel injections into the cylinders of the engine during their expansion phase, and in that the control means (17) are associated with means (18,21,22) for determining the activity level of a catalyst (6) associated with the filter (7) in order to switch the timing and/or the quantity of fuel injected during the multiple injections, between first catalyst priming values and second values for maintaining this priming.
