General OpenTTD • In lanes, not all through-stations are used.

In OpenTTD 15.1, I create 3 or 4 lanes of roads or tramways at least 5 squares long next to an industrial building. Above, I place through-stations along the entire length of the lane, but all vehicles stop at the first station and don't flow the entire length of the lane, thus generating a long queue of incoming vehicles. Now I try multiple one-square-long lanes with a single station, but still not all the stations are used. Where am I going wrong?
