Live from the 2026 ACC Tournament: Day 5
Somehow we avoided the rain all day. Every time it looked like it was going to pound us, it kept going north. I guess God is a baseball fan after all. Nonetheless, after five long days of chaotic games filled with offensive outbursts, we've set up #1 vs. #2 for the ACC Championship. A couple blowouts yesterday led us to that point, but that's what we've come to expect from these two clubs. There are tons of big names on both squads that have impressed all week, and here's my biggest takeaways from what some of those standout stars did in the ACC Tournament semifinals:
Georgia Tech 9, Miami (FL) 3
The ACC #1 seed advances to the conference championship. A boring outcome, yet very fun considering we get to watch this offense one last time before they're officially gunning for a national championship. There wasn't much under the hood that was terribly flashy for Jackson Blakely today, but he kept producing weak enough contact around the yard to limit the Hurricanes to 2 runs in 5 2/3 innings. Regardless of his outing, along with Caden Gaudette and Dimitri Angelakos, the GT bats, per usual, were the story of the day. 9 runs on 11 hits with 3 long balls feels like an average day at the park for the Yellow Jackets at this point, so it's not like anyone was shocked by yesterday. As for the Miami bats, they were due to cool down just a bit, but a poor performance against the probable national #2 overall seed shouldn’t be enough to sway any positive opinion you may have had about the Canes. Look for JD Arteaga’s club to be a pesky 2 seed next weekend, more than likely in the ruckus environment of an SEC ballpark.
