Live from the 2026 ACC Tournament: Day 4

A gloomy day lingered over Truist Field for the back-end of the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament on Friday. Starts from the top two finishers in the ACC Pitcher of the Year race were highly anticipated, but major letdowns. One thing that wasn't a letdown, however, was the ending of last night's nightcap, and I can promise there's more about that in this article. That said, here's my biggest takeaways from the latter half of the ACC Tournament quarterfinals:

North Carolina 10, Virginia Tech 4

The back end of the quarterfinal round moved with pace in order to avoid the impending rain, despite the 14 runs tallied. VT was like a pest that keeps hanging around, but Carolina's bats killed any doubt in the 8th. Caden Glauber took over for a struggling Jason Decaro in the 4th and recorded his second longest outing of the season as the Heels advance to the semifinals. For the Hokies, their run at the ACC title comes to an end as their focus shifts to where they'll be sent on Selection Monday. With an RPI of #43 and KPI of #36, you can safely assume they'll be a 3 seed sent to a regional in the southeast.
