💣💣 Hideki Prather, C Cal (Atlantic Coast)

2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 5 RBI

Hedeki Prather, C, Cal Prather broke open the game early with a two-run shot off of Virginia Tech starter Griffin Stieg to give the Bears a 5-0 lead in the second. After Tech got on the board and closed the gap, Prather came back in the fourth and hit another, regaining a five-run lead. The Cal catcher has managed a pair of multi-homer games despite having just 11 total on the year. Coming over to Berkeley after appearing in just four games over two years at Clemson due to injuries, he’s one of the least experienced draft-eligible players in the country, but he’s a sure thing behind the plate with on-base skills and plenty of gap power— for now.

Joe Tiroly, 2B Virginia (Atlantic Coast)

Game 1: 2-for-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB

Game 2: 3-for-5, 2 2B, 3 R, 5 RBI

Virginia put up 25 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Radford, and Tiroly led the way with seven runs driven in. He got the Hoos on the board in the third inning of Game 1 with a game-tying solo shot, and delivered three more times in Game 2— a bases-clearing double to take an early 4-3 lead that would not be relinquished, an RBI double in the fourth to extend the lead, and an RBI single in the fifth to put it out of reach. Tiroly’s first year in Charlottesville has been very successful, and he’s been extremely hot of late, with seven multi-hit games in the last month.
