Another weekend and another day spent at a ballpark. Friday’s adventure took me over to Kennesaw, Georgia to watch Kennesaw State take on Liberty in their fresh new stadium. Pitching controlled the game the entire duration. Here’s my coverage on a handful who stood out.

Ben Blair, RHP Liberty (Jr.)

I’m sure the average college baseball fan is aware of Ben Blair by now and if they’re not, they will be soon. Blair is a 6’3 200lbs right-hander for Liberty. Immediately, his motion catches the eye. He throws from a side-arm slot not really seen in starting pitchers. The windup is a bit twitchy with sharp glove movements, but everything stays fairly repeatable and works continuously from the same slot. With the low slot and some jerkiness, it’s fair to bring up the question of durability and sustainability as a starter. Those were essentially the biggest concerns regarding Blair entering his draft-eligible season. However, his sustainability brought me no concerns in this game.
