Live Looks: Mercer at Georgia State 3/10/26

Getting used to my new treads in the Peach State, I had to go check out the Mercer squad that is terrorizing pitchers around. I can say with full confidence the offense is scary. From top to bottom, the lineup is filled with threats and many different players grabbed my attention.

Below are the players that most stood out to me.

Logan Shepherd, 1B Mercer (Jr.)

Shepherd began the season hot but has cooled off greatly, recording just two hits in his past five games. This extended into Tuesday’s matchup where he recorded another hitless game. His approach is aggressive yet disciplined. He does well to lay off breaking pitches moving outside the zone and staying firm in his zone. However, once a pitch catches any inch of the strike zone, he’s swinging. By my count, he swung at all but one pitch within the strike zone. Even on counts where he’s very ahead including 3-0, 3-1, and 2-0, he still swung at pitches in the zone.
