The Virginia Cavaliers are rolling and took the first two of a three-game set against 6th-ranked North Carolina, each in emphatic fashion, winning 9-2 in Game 1 of their DH. Virginia got their scoring started in the third with a back-side two-run homer off the bat of Sam Harris, which was a line-drive laser hit at 108 mph. One of Coach Pollard’s carry-over transfers, Harris is up to 4 HRs on the year now, and had a double Friday night hit at a similar exit velocity. The big first baseman is in his junior season and is draft-eligible. Harris wasn’t the only Cav to go yard as LFer Zach Jackson mixed in one for himself with a solo shot in the seventh with the game already wrapped up. The sophomore is also up to 4 HRs on the year, and is another Duke carryover. He’s played mostly LF this year with AJ Gracia manning CF, but in his draft platform year next year, Jackson should be the full-time CFer. He has quickly become a name to watch for the 2027 class.
