Palacios leads tight Metro Council District 4 race

Two candidates competed for the open Metro Council District 4 seat in Tuesday's primary, with Miles Palacios taking a narrow lead over Alex Phan in initial results released at 8 p.m. Initial results showed Palacios at 51.16% (12,020 votes) and Phan at 47.86% (11,245 votes). Another 229 voters wrote in another name, 0.97% of the vote. The candidates were Alex Phan, a Washington County real estate broker who chaired the Clean Water Services Advisory Commission and served on Metro's supportive-housing workgroup; and Miles Palacios, a former Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District board director who is currently chief of staff to an Oregon state senator.
