Dorman Pond, the small fishing hole just west of the junction of Highway 6 and 8 in Gales Creek, is set to receive 1,000 legal-size rainbow trout during the week of April 13-17, according to the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife’s stocking schedule.
The pond, a former gravel pit now home to trout, bluegill, and a lot of lost fishing lures, already received 1,000 legal-size trout during the week of March 16-20. ODFW does not publicly announce exact stocking dates.
More trout are on the way after that. The schedule shows another 1,200 legal-size trout headed to Dorman Pond during the week of April 27 through May 1, and 650 trophy-size trout during the week of June 1-5.
Nearby Henry Hagg Lake is also seeing action this spring, with 2,000 trophy-size trout scheduled for stocking during the week of April 6-10.
