Dorman Pond, the small fishing hole situated just west of the junction of Highway 6 and 8 in Gales Creek, is set to receive 1,000 legal-size rainbow trout during the week of March 9-13, according to the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife’s stocking schedule.
Once a gravel pit, the pond is now home to trout, bluegill, at least one turtle, and a lot of lost fishing lures. ODFW does not publicly announce exact stocking dates, but the agency’s schedule indicates the trout will arrive sometime during that week.
Nearby Henry Hagg Lake has already seen action this year, receiving 1,000 trophy-size trout during the week of Feb. 9-13 and 12,000 legal-size trout during the week of Feb. 23-27. An additional stocking of 1,000 trophy-size trout is scheduled for Hagg Lake during the week of March 16-20.
