According to some embodiments, a battery management device includes a data acquisition unit configured to acquire battery data from a multi-pack battery including a main battery pack and one or more sub-battery packs, and a control unit configured to determine whether the multi-pack battery enters a rest mode based on the battery data, select a charge battery pack and a discharge battery pack from the multi-pack battery based on the battery data when entering the rest mode, and perform pack activation for providing power of the discharge battery pack to the charge battery pack.
