The invention relates to a method (200) for controlling harmonic current detection equipment fitted to a rail vehicle, characterized in that it comprises at least one iteration of the following steps: - determination (208) of the presence or absence of at least one track circuit on at least one section of a railway line, and - activation or deactivation (214, 218), based on said determination, of said harmonic current detection equipment at least on said section of said railway line. It also relates to a device implementing such a method, and to harmonic current detection equipment and a rail vehicle comprising such a device.
