Skid protection device (1) for vehicle tires comprising a running mesh (2), an inner tension strand (3) which is closable in a ring shape, an outer tension strand (4) which has a first end (6), wherein at least a part of the outer tension strand (4) is closable in a ring shape, and a tensioning device (5) which has a tension cable (10) that can be drawn into the tensioning device (5) by spring force, wherein the tensioning device (5) is on the one hand releasably connectable or fixedly connected to the first end (6) and on the other hand is releasably connectable to the outer tension strand (4).
