DEVICE COMPRISING A CAMERA UNIT AND A COVER ELEMENT

In a device (2) having a camera unit (3) for capturing images of the exterior area of a motor vehicle (1), a carrier assembly (6) in which the camera unit (3) is movably accommodated between a rest position and an active position, a cover element (8) which is designed to be movable between a closed position and an open position, and a movement mechanism (9) for moving the camera unit (3) and the cover element (8), a solution is to be provided which, in a structurally simple manner, provides a device that requires a small installation space and which is simultaneously characterized by a small movement path for the camera unit (3). This is achieved in that the movement mechanism (9) comprises a first pivot element (10) which is pivotably mounted about a first rotation axis (15) on the carrier assembly (6) and which is articulated to the camera unit (3) via a first articulation axis (16), a second pivot element (11) which is pivotably mounted about a second rotation axis (17) on the carrier assembly (6) and which is articulated to the camera unit (3) via a second articulation axis (18), and a third pivot element (12) which is pivotably mounted about the first rotation axis (15) on the carrier assembly (6) and which is connected to the cover element (8).
