ADAPTING INTAKE FLOW FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES

Source
An intake channel system (40, 40') of an internal combustion engine (1) with an engine block cylinder unit section (3) comprises an intake channel (13) that provides a fluid passage fluidly connecting an inlet side (14A) with an outlet side (14B) for passing an intake fluid to the engine block cylinder unit section (3). The intake channel system (40, 40') comprises further at least one swirl generating element (41, 45A, 45B, 55A, 55B) provided in the intake channel (13), to deflect the flow of the fluid for introducing a swirl (S) onto the intake fluid. Enforcing a swirl in the intake channel system (40, 40') may allow providing a specific flow system within the main combustion chamber.
