Inlet system for an internal combustion engine comprises an inlet channel (1) guiding combustion air toward a cylinder of the engine, a valve (2) arranged at the downstream end (3) of the inlet channel, and a control channel (4) containing flow-controlling elements (5) and opening into the inlet channel upstream of the valve. An independent claim is also included for a process for controlling mixture formation in the cylinder of an internal combustion engine.
