Folding top (1) for motor vehicles, wherein the folding top (1) can be brought between a closed position spanning a vehicle interior and an open position stored in a storage space, comprising a roof panel component (3), a top cover (2), and a holding strip (4), wherein the top cover (2) is connected at one end of the top cover to the holding strip (4) and wherein the holding strip (4) is arranged transversely to the vehicle longitudinal direction, wherein the holding strip (4) is in engagement with the roof panel component (3), wherein the holding strip (4) has in a first end region a geometry (B) that is hooked into the roof panel component (3), wherein the holding strip (4) has a second end region opposite the first end region, whose geometry (C, D) bears against the roof panel component (3) in the X and Z directions.
