The present invention relates to a tarpaulin fastening element (150) for releasably fastening a tarpaulin (120) of a commercial vehicle body to a frame structure (102). The tarpaulin fastening element (150) has a main body (152) which has a tarpaulin fastening region (153) that is designed to non-releasably connect the main body (152; 352) with the tarpaulin (120), and a tarpaulin locking region (154) that is designed to releasably engage with the tarpaulin locking device (140). The tarpaulin fastening element furthermore has a permanent magnet (155) present on the main body (152) that is designed to magnetically adhere to the tarpaulin locking device (140) when the main body (152) engages with the tarpaulin locking device (140).
