The present disclosure relates to a tarpaulin fastening device (150) for fastening a tarpaulin (120) of a semi-trailer that includes a frame structure (102) which together with the tarpaulin (120) delimits a cargo space (114) and contains multiple projections (144). The fastening device (150) comprises a main body with a first opening (156) which is configured to fasten the main body to the tarpaulin (120) and to engage with one of the multiple projections (144) when the tarpaulin (120) is in a first position. Additionally, the main body has at least one second opening (158) which is configured to engage with one of the multiple projections (144) when the tarpaulin (120) is in a second position.
