Heat exchanger for an internal combustion engine, comprising a first connection area (1, 102) for supplying a fluid to be cooled, wherein the fluid consists at least in part of exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine, a second connection area (3, 103) for discharging the fluid, and an exchanger area (2, 101, 104, 105) arranged with respect to a flow path of the fluid between the first and second connection areas, wherein the exchanger area (2, 101, 104, 105) can be flowed around by a coolant, and wherein at least a portion of the heat exchanger consists of ferritic steel.
