Industrial truck, in particular towing vehicle with a travel speed transmitter operable by an operator and a travel control provided for a drive motor, which converts an applied setpoint of the travel speed transmitter into a setpoint for a motor torque to be generated, wherein the setpoint for the motor torque, depending on a rotational speed of the motor, is limited to a maximum value which prevents overheating of the motor during continuous operation, wherein an auxiliary switch is provided, upon actuation of which the travel control generates, for a predetermined acceleration period, a setpoint for the motor torque which is greater than the maximum values suitable for continuous operation.
