The present invention relates to a roof rack element (2) for a vehicle (1) equipped with an object securing system (8) comprising two parallel transverse bars (3, 4) and a belt tensioner equipped with a ratchet wheel (7) around which a belt (9) is wound. The two bars (3, 4) are spaced apart by at least the width of the belt (9).
