A carrier assembly (10) for a trailer coupling or a load carrier, comprising as components a cross member (20) and optionally side members (30; 31) as well as at least one bracket (11, 13) arranged on the cross member (20) for a trailer coupling or a coupling part of a load carrier, wherein at least two components or component parts of the carrier assembly (10) bear against one another with contact surfaces (50-59). In the carrier assembly (10), it is provided that at least one insertion pin (60) protrudes in front of the contact surface (50-59) of one component or one component part, which can be inserted into at least one pin receptacle (70) on the contact surface (50-59) of the other component or other component part along an insertion axis (S, S2) and engages in the insertion receptacle (70), so that lateral abutment surfaces of the insertion projection (60) and the insertion receptacle extending transversely to the contact surface (50-59) are in engagement.
