The invention relates to a carrier assembly for a trailer coupling (90) or a load carrier, comprising as components a cross member and at least one bracket (11, 13) arranged on the cross member (20) for a trailer coupling (90) or for a coupling part of a load carrier and optionally side members (30, 31) connected to the cross member (20) for mounting on a rear of a body of a vehicle. The carrier assembly provides that at least two of the components of the carrier assembly (10) and/or at least two of their component parts are connected to one another by a plug connection, wherein a plug projection (50, 51, 60, 61) projecting in front of one component or one component part engages in a plug receptacle (33-36) of the other component or the other component part and the at least one plug projection is connected to the other component or the other component part by means of a material-bonded connection.
