The present invention relates to end-group functionalized polymers, wherein these have at the polymer chain end a silane-containing carboxyl group of formula (I) wherein R, R are the same or different and represent H, alkyl, alkoxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, alkaryl, alkaryloxy, aralkyl and aralkoxy residues, which may contain one or more heteroatoms, preferably O, N, S or Si, R, R are the same or different and represent H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl and aralkyl residues, which may contain one or more heteroatoms, preferably O, N, S or Si, A stands for a divalent organic residue which, in addition to C and H, may contain one or more heteroatoms, preferably O, N, S or Si.
