The cylinder liner has support ring (3) that is placed on outer support surface (4) of the cylinder liner main portion around a cylinder axis (A) of the cylinder liner main portion. The support ring is supported on the support surface through a contact surface (31). The supporting ring is designed such that induced radial enlargement of the cylinder liner main portion is limited to preset value by the support ring with respect to the cylinder axis. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing supporting ring of cylinder liner.
