Method for restoring a cylinder assembly of a reciprocating piston combustion engine

The method involves arranging piston ring package on a piston crown which is set between piston top portion and combustion chamber from underside of piston, so that the piston ring package is set in frictional contact with running surface of cylinder liner in the operating state of piston. The top side of piston is positioned near to top ring of piston ring package, during the reconditioning process of the piston. The top side of piston is positioned at predetermined difference distance from top ring of piston ring package, before the reconditioning process.
