Steering column of an automobile with improved anti-theft device

The column has a hollow longitudinal body (12) for housing a telescopic steering shaft (14). A case (16) is formed of a lower wall (16A) and side walls (16B) defining an antitheft device housing, and fixed on an outer surface of the body. The side walls are extended till contacting the surface. The body comprises a bolt passing orifice (26) that allows passage of an anti-theft lock (20) of an antitheft device (18), where the orifice is defined by a flange. The lower wall has another bolt passing orifice (28) defined by another flange that is folded for being fitted in the former flange.
