The invention relates to an anti-theft device () for a steering column of a motor vehicle, said device () comprising: a bolt () mounted such that it can move in translation in the device () between a position in which the steering column is locked and a position in which the column is released, a and a means () for controlling the movement of the bolt (). The device also comprises a drive means () connecting the control means () and the bolt (), said drive means () including a housing () that receives at least part of a locking element () when the locking element () is in the rest and active positions. The aforementioned locking element () is configured to co-operate with the control means such as, in the active position, to lock the drive means () when the bolt () is in the locked position.
