The carrier (10a) has a support structure (13) for carrying a load. The support structure rearwardly projects before a rear region of a motorvehicle in a working position of the carrier. A lower loading plane (65) is arranged proximate to a vehicle rear. An upper loading plane (66) is arranged remote from the vehicle rear. The support structure or a support arrangement (19a) includes an extension component for increasing loading capacity. The extension component is detachably arranged or movably mounted at a base carrier.
