Cladding component for the interior of a motor vehicle

The covering component has a box profile layer (10), in which multiple hollow chambers are formed. The hollow chambers of the box profile layer are filled with air. The air columns embedded in the box profile layer in connection with an air-tight top layer (12) or a surface of the box profile layer form an acoustic spring-mass-system. The box profile layer is made of thermoplastic or duroplastic film or of paper, which is coated with resin, latex, oil, wax or bitumen.
