Method for determining information related to the direction a driver is looking and the position of their hands relative to the steering wheel in a motor vehicle and motor vehicle

The method involves evaluating data for determination of information by image processing. The data is collected from an imaging device e.g. infrared camera (4), where the device detects a steering wheel and the head of a driver (6). The information is used for adaptation of an operational parameter of a driver assistance- and/or security system (2) of a motor car (1). The imaging device is used for imaging the head of the driver and/or a steering wheel rim (7), where the imaging device is arranged at an angle and aligned vertical to a direction of travel. An independent claim is also included for a motor car comprising a driver assistance- and/or security system.
