Method for scavenging residual burnt gas in a supercharged direct-injection internal combustion engine operating at partial loads.

The method involves controlling closing of intake valve during scavenging stage which affects pressure inside chamber. During closing of intake valve, the exhaust pressure is lessened, generating a pressure difference with respect to intake pressure. The intake valve opens/closes following at least one sequence, during the scavenging stage of diesel type engine.
